Pool Study 1
4”x6”x1”
Acrylic box, resin, beads, iridescent paper, vinyl, drinking straws, plastic lace, plastic bracelet
Each "Pool Study" is made using found objects I have collected for experiments over the years. Each one has circles, which are often bracelets from the 80's and 90's as well as objects like beads, polymer clay, theater gels, and plastic lace that are suspended on top of the box in resin. I imagine each one as a landscape or topographic map. They’re inspired by childhood play and miniatures I had as a child, like Polly Pocket. This piece has been recreated twice; it has hung at The Vanderelli Room, The Riffe Gallery and The Ohio State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition. It inspired a public glass mural living in the Convention Center parking lot in the Short North, Columbus, Ohio.
Each piece comes with 2 white nails and hanging instructions.
